Ongava Lodge | Top Namibia Lodge
is the crown jewel in the Ongava game reserve shared by the two game lodge establishments. The beauty of Ongava apart from the abundant wildlife in a private game park lies in the vast array of plant life and vegetation, including the Mopane woodlands unique to this part of Namibia.
Naturally the primary reason for visiting Ongava is not the Lodge but the well managed wildlife under a competent park management team. You are likely to see herds of zebra grazing peacefully and packs of surprisingly shy 8,000-pound white rhinos feeding on the foliage. This larger, straighter-horned and more arid-adapted subspecies of Rhinos known under its scientific name as Diceros bicornis bicornis is at home in Namibia as well as its northern neighbour Angola, western Botswana and south-western South Africa.
The particalirt of Ongava is that it has most probably one of the first female park rangers in the now famous Rosie. She not only knows her stuff but loves what she does and shows it with the enthusiasm she shares with her guest during the game ride. Ongava Lodge accommodates 14-room at a time and has recently been renoved. It is slightly less expensive that the more tastefully furnished Little Ongava Lodge.
Ongava Reserve and the the Ongava Lodge fill a growing demand for top African safari lodges for those visitors wishing to enjoy the best nature has to offer without forsaking in the standard of comfort and culinery finese they are used to in prime international tourist destinations.
